Acelero Learning announced today the appointment of Kelvin Thomas as the Vice President of Acelero Learning Head Start in Clark County, effective November 11, 2024. In this role, Thomas will oversee one of Nevada’s largest Head Start providers, managing 14 early childhood education centers across Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson.

Prior to joining Acelero Learning, Thomas was the Director of Early Childhood Education and Family Services at Enrichment Services Program (ESP), a nonprofit community action agency serving children enrolled in Head Start, Early Head Start, PreK, and Child-Care Partnership Programs. Before joining ESP, he held several administrative roles in K-12 education. His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership (ABD) and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership, as well as a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). He is a graduate of the UCLA New Director’s Academy and Head Start Management Fellows Program. With his expertise in Head Start and school administration, Thomas is uniquely qualified to advance ongoing initiatives in Clark County, amplifying Acelero Learning’s impact in the communities it serves.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kelvin as our Vice President in Clark County. Beyond his extensive experience in Head Start and his collaborative leadership style, he is deeply committed to our mission of preparing every child for kindergarten and beyond,” stated Dr. Rory Sipp, Division President of Acelero Learning. “We are confident that his collaborative efforts with families, staff, and community partners will greatly enhance the quality and accessibility of early childhood education in Clark County.”

Thomas said, “I believe that to make a difference in the lives of children and families, you must know and understand your ‘why.’ I fully embrace my purpose, which is to create world-class Head Start programs that ensure all children are more than school-ready, and barriers that hinder school success are removed. I chose Acelero Learning because of the quality and evidence-based practices that are in place to ensure equity and school readiness for all children.”

Since 2008, Acelero Learning has operated Head Start programs in Clark County, expanding in 2017 to include Early Head Start. Today, Acelero Learning Clark County serves 1,200 children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years, across 14 centers.
