Acelero, Inc. Meets with Congressional Leaders at WLI 2024
Winter Leadership Institute (WLI) is hosted annually by the National Head Start Association (NHSA) in the Washington D.C. metro area, where attendees have the opportunity to advocate for early childhood education on Capitol Hill.
At the end of January, several members of Acelero, Inc., including Acelero Learning and Shine Early Learning, joined over 600 leaders in early childhood education (ECE) at the National Head Start Association’s Winter Leadership Institute (WLI). WLI is hosted annually by the National Head Start Association (NHSA) in the Washington D.C. metro area, where attendees have the opportunity to meet with policy makers who influence legislation on issues impacting early childhood education and childcare.
This year, Acelero, Inc. team members visited 15 legislative offices, including those representing Pennsylvania, Nevada, New Jersey, Wisconsin, New York, Delaware, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Our team, which included Tameka Henry, Acelero Learning Head Start Governing Board member; Dr. Lydia Carlis, Chief Learning & Impact Officer; Dr. Maria Begg-Roberson, SVP, Program Services & Innovation; Nicole Taxiltaridis, Senior Director of Business Development and NHSA Board Member at Large; Anya Hughes, Finance Analyst & Policy Extern, and Barbara Montero, Chief Growth Officer, used the opportunity to meet with government leaders and share inaugural items that make up our own Acelero 2024 Policy Agenda, including:
- Investing in the Head Start Workforce
- Funding Early Childhood Programs
- Supporting Program Improvements
Our Acelero, Inc. team used their voices to call for greater investment in Head Start teachers, workforce, and programs. They advocated that an investment in Head Start is an investment in every child, family, and community that Head Start serves.
In the words of former Attorney General, Senator, and Civil Rights Activist Robert F. Kennedy Sr., “each time a man stands up for an ideal or acts to improve the lot of others or strikes out against injustice. He sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest wall of oppression and resistance.” Our Acelero, Inc. team was that ripple at WLI this year.
